The 3 key points
- 1.Manchester City dominate on home soilJust one defeat in 22 Premier League home games, and never beaten at home by Brighton in 18 previous meetings (4 draws, 14 wins).
- 2.Brighton strugglingThree games without a win and a dismal record at the Etihad (only two points out of a possible 27 in the Premier League), the team's worst record in the division.
- 3.Manchester City's fragile defence11 goals conceded in their last five games, with at least two goals conceded in three of those matches.
The Teacher's verdict

Manchester City start as favourites against Brighton, on the strength of their dominance at home and the Seagulls' chronic fragility at this ground. Although Brighton showed fighting spirit on Wednesday in the League Cup, Hurzeler's side are struggling to convert their chances and are on a winless run. The Citizens, despite their defensive problems, benefit from the return of their key players and the attacking quality of Erling Haaland. The pressure of the table and the quest for revenge after the defeat at Aston Villa should push Manchester City to impose their game. Brighton will struggle to create enough chances to trouble a side that, even weakened defensively, remains formidable at home. Manchester City 3-1 Brighton & Hove Albion.
